Best Mercedes CLS-Class (W218/W219/C257) Styling Upgrades Guide (2026)

The CLS was Mercedes' original four-door coupe, and every generation since the 2004 W219 has traded a little practicality for a roofline most saloons can't match. It's a car that already looks the part standing still, so the styling upgrades that work best on a CLS tend to sharpen what's already there — a cleaner front splitter line, a boot spoiler that extends the coupe roof's taper, a grille that brings the nose in line with current AMG design language — rather than adding visual bulk.

We currently stock parts across all three generations: the W219 (2003-2010), the W218/C218 (2010-2018) and the current W257/C257 (2018+), covering front splitters, a Panamericana-style GT grille, and rear spoilers in multiple finishes.

Front Splitters

For the W257 (2018-2023), we stock an AMG Line-style front splitter finished in gloss black ABS that mounts beneath the factory front bumper to add depth and a harder shadow line at the front edge — the single most effective change you can make to a CLS's face-on stance, since it visually lowers the nose without any suspension work. We don't currently carry a front splitter for the W219 or W218, so if you're running an earlier CLS, the grille and spoiler upgrades below are where we'd point you first.

Panamericana-Style Grille (W257)

The vertical-slat 'Panamericana' grille that debuted on the AMG GT has become the design signature Mercedes now uses across its performance range, and we stock a gloss black version sized for the W257 CLS. It's a straightforward swap for the factory grille and immediately brings a pre-facelift or standard-line CLS closer to the look of the range-topping AMG 53 models, without the cost of a full AMG conversion.

Rear Spoilers: All Three Generations

This is where the CLS range is best covered. For the W219 (2003-2010) we stock a gloss black boot spoiler that follows the original coupe roofline. For the W218/C218 (2010-2018) we carry a boot spoiler in both gloss black and carbon-fibre-pattern ABS finishes. And for the current W257/C257 (2018+) we stock the same boot spoiler again in both gloss black and carbon-fibre-pattern finishes, so whichever generation you're running, there's a finish to match your trim.

Gloss Black vs Carbon Fibre

Where both finishes are available (W218 and W257), the choice comes down to how the rest of your car is specced. Gloss black is the more universal option and reads as a factory AMG Line detail on any exterior colour. The carbon-fibre-pattern finish is a printed carbon-effect ABS finish rather than genuine woven carbon, and looks most convincing on cars already carrying black mirror caps, a black grille surround or diamond-cut alloys, where it reinforces an existing dark-trim theme rather than standing alone.

Fitting Notes

Splitters and spoilers are supplied with 3M automotive adhesive tape for a no-drill fit; the grille is a direct swap for the factory item and typically needs the front bumper's upper trim clips released to access the mounting points, which is a straightforward job but one we'd recommend doing with the bonnet up and the car on a flat surface so you can check panel gaps as you go. For all adhesive-fit parts, a full surface wipe with isopropyl alcohol, firm even pressure along the full bond line, and 24-48 hours before a wash are what separates a permanent fit from one that lifts at the edges within a few months.

Generation Differences

The W219 is the only CLS generation where we currently stock just the spoiler with no splitter or grille option — parts availability for this generation is generally thinner across the aftermarket as the car has been out of production the longest. The W218 sits in the middle with spoiler choice in both finishes. The W257 is the best-covered, with splitter, grille and spoiler all available, making it the easiest generation to put together a genuinely coordinated styling package for.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will the W257 front splitter fit a non-AMG Line CLS?
The splitter is designed to mount to the AMG Line front bumper. If your CLS has the standard (non-AMG Line) bumper, please check our fitment photos carefully before ordering, as the mounting points differ.

Does the Panamericana grille fit facelift and pre-facelift W257 models?
Fitment can vary slightly between pre-facelift and facelift W257 models due to sensor placement changes, so always compare your front bumper to our listing photos first.

Is a carbon fibre spoiler stronger than gloss black?
Both finishes use the same ABS base material and are equally durable — the carbon-fibre option is a cosmetic pattern finish, not a structural difference.

Can I fit a W218 spoiler to a W219, or vice versa?
No — the CLS's boot lid shape changed with each generation, so spoilers are generation-specific and won't cross-fit.
