This is a mid mounted spoiler rather than a roof spoiler, so it sits lower down the tailgate than most of our other fitments, and it's designed for the standard SUV bodystyle only. This guide covers fitting our Audi Q3 Rear Mid Spoiler, fitting the Audi Q3, SQ3 and RSQ3, 2018 onward, SUV 4x4 models only, this will not fit the Sportback.
Tools you'll need
- Isopropyl alcohol (IPA) or a dedicated panel prep wipe
- Microfibre cloths (lint free)
- Masking tape and a tape measure
- Strong automotive adhesive such as Tiger Seal or Gorilla Glue (the supplied 3M tape is for positioning only, not a permanent fix)
- A helper to hold the spoiler steady while you check the line
Step 1: Check your fitment
Confirm you have the 4x4 SUV bodystyle, 2018 onward, before ordering, this spoiler will not fit the Sportback.
Step 2: Clean and prep the surface
Wash the mounting area thoroughly and dry it completely. Wipe with isopropyl alcohol to remove all wax, polish and road grime for the strongest possible bond.
Step 3: Mock the position with the supplied tape
Use the supplied 3M tape to hold the spoiler in place temporarily so you can check the line. Measure from the same reference points on both sides so it sits perfectly central across the tailgate.
Step 4: Dry fit before you commit
Step back and check the spoiler sits level from a few angles, including from directly behind the car, before going any further.
Step 5: Bond and secure
Remove the spoiler, apply a bead of strong automotive adhesive to the mounting points, then press it back into your marked position. Apply firm, even pressure along the full width and allow the adhesive to cure fully before driving at speed.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Ordering for a Sportback model by mistake, this spoiler is SUV 4x4 only
- Treating the supplied 3M tape as the final fix rather than a positioning aid
- Skipping the IPA wipe down, residue is the top cause of a spoiler lifting
- Not measuring from matching reference points on both sides, leading to a spoiler that looks slightly off centre
- Washing the car or using a jet wash within the first 24 to 48 hours while the adhesive cures
