Best BMW 7 Series (F01/F02/G11/G12) Styling Upgrades Guide (2026)

The BMW 7 Series has never needed shouting about. It is the brand's flagship saloon, and even in range-topping 750i or M760Li form it relies on proportion and detailing rather than aggressive add-ons to make its case. That makes it a slightly different styling project to something like a 3 Series or an M-car: the goal with a 7 Series isn't to make it look sportier, it's to sharpen the rear end and give the boot line a bit more definition without disturbing the car's natural authority.

Because of that, the upgrade path for the 7 Series is narrower and more deliberate than some of our other model guides. Right now we stock rear spoilers for both the F01/F02 (2008-2015) and G11/G12 (2015-2022) generations, and this guide focuses on getting that one upgrade exactly right, rather than padding out a list of parts we don't genuinely have in stock for this car.

Rear Spoilers: F01/F02 (2008-2015)

For the pre-LCI and LCI F01 (standard wheelbase) and F02 (long wheelbase, badged 'Li' in the UK), we carry an M Performance-style boot spoiler finished in gloss black ABS. It's a subtle lip-style addition that follows the factory boot line rather than sitting proud of it, which suits the 7 Series' understated character. Because the F01/F02 shares its rear bumper and boot pressing across the range, this spoiler fits 730d, 740i, 750i and Alpina B7 models alike, though we always recommend checking your exact boot lid against our fitment photos before ordering, as pre-LCI and LCI cars can differ slightly around the boot lid trim.

Rear Spoilers: G11/G12 (2015-2022)

The G11 (standard wheelbase) and G12 (long wheelbase) get more choice. We stock the same M Performance-style boot spoiler in both gloss black ABS and a carbon-fibre-pattern ABS finish, so you can match it to a black-trim car or to a car already carrying genuine carbon exterior details. There's also a roof-mounted window spoiler option for the G11/G12, which sits above the rear windscreen rather than on the boot lid itself — a smaller, cleaner upgrade for owners who want the faintest hint of styling rather than a visible wing.

Gloss Black vs Carbon Fibre

On a car like the 7 Series, the finish decision matters more than usual because so much of the exterior is deliberately monochrome. Gloss black ABS is the safer, more OEM-plus choice — it reads as a factory M Sport-style detail and works with any exterior colour, from Alpine White to Carbon Black metallic. The carbon-fibre-pattern finish (available on the G11/G12 boot spoiler) is a printed carbon-effect finish on an ABS base rather than genuine woven carbon fibre, and it's best suited to cars that already carry black or dark exterior trim, mirror caps or a black kidney grille, so the spoiler doesn't look like an isolated add-on.

Fitting Notes

Both the F01/F02 and G11/G12 spoilers are supplied with automotive-grade 3M adhesive tape and fit without drilling, which matters on a car of this value where nobody wants to put a hole through a genuine boot lid. That said, the 7 Series' boot lid is large and its paint finish is usually higher-spec than a typical hatchback's, so we'd always recommend a professional fit or at minimum a careful two-person job: a full isopropyl alcohol wipe-down, correct curing temperature (above 15°C), and 24-48 hours before the car goes through an automatic wash. Rushing the bonding step is the single most common reason a spoiler lifts at one edge months later.

What We Don't Currently Stock

We want to be upfront: at the time of writing we don't carry front splitters, side skirts or a rear diffuser for the 7 Series. If your project is a full front-to-back refresh rather than a rear-end update, the boot spoiler is a strong starting point, but check back with us as we're continually expanding fitment across the range.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does a rear spoiler fit both the 730d and the M760Li?
Yes — because the F01/F02 and G11/G12 share their boot pressing across the engine range, our spoilers fit any 7 Series of the matching generation, including diesel, petrol and Alpina/M Performance variants.

Will it affect my parking sensors or boot-mounted camera?
Our spoilers are designed to sit clear of factory sensor and camera housings, but if your 7 Series has a boot-lid-mounted reversing camera we'd recommend checking our fitment photos closely, as camera positions can vary by market and model year.

Is the carbon-fibre finish real carbon?
No — it's a carbon-effect pattern finished over an ABS base, which keeps cost sensible and durability high, rather than genuine dry carbon fibre.

Can I fit this myself?
Yes, both spoilers are designed for DIY fitting with the supplied 3M tape, though given the size and value of the 7 Series' boot lid, many owners choose to have it fitted by a professional for peace of mind.
