The B8 (2008–2016) and B9 (2016–present) are the two Audi A4 generations most commonly styled in the UK, and both take well to the same handful of upgrades. Here's what actually makes a difference, and what to prioritise first.
Rear Spoiler — The Highest-Impact, Lowest-Effort Upgrade
A boot lip or roof spoiler is the single most popular A4 upgrade, and it's easy to see why: it's a straightforward bolt-on that visibly sharpens the rear end without touching the ride height or stance. Both saloon and Avant (estate) body styles have their own spoiler shapes, so it's worth confirming which one matches your car before ordering — an S4-style boot lip reads differently to a roof-mounted wing, and the two aren't interchangeable.
Front Splitter — Changes the Face of the Car
A front splitter has more visual impact per pound than almost any other A4 upgrade, sharpening the factory bumper into something closer to an S-line or S4 look. B8 and B9 bumpers are shaped differently, and the B9 itself has a further split between pre-facelift (2016–2019) and facelift B9.5 (2020+) bumpers — so fitment depends on getting the exact model year right, not just "B8 or B9."
Side Skirts & Rear Diffuser — Worth Knowing, Not Yet Stocked
Side skirts and a rear diffuser are the natural next step after a spoiler and splitter, closing the gap along the sills and adding presence to the rear valance. We don't currently carry these for the A4 — our B8 and B9 ranges right now are spoilers and front splitters — so if that's what you're after, get in touch and we'll flag when they're added.
Material: Gloss Black vs Carbon Fibre
Most of our A4 spoilers come in both finishes. Gloss black is the budget-friendly option and matches factory black trim well; carbon fibre costs more but saves a little weight and gives a sharper, more track-oriented finish. Neither changes the shape of the part, just the material and finish.
B8 vs B9 — What Changes
B8 (2008–2012) and B8.5 facelift (2012–2016) share a bumper shape distinct from the B9 (2016–2019) and B9.5 facelift (2020+). Spoilers and splitters are cut per generation, so an S4-style splitter for a B9 won't fit a B8, and vice versa — always check your exact model year before ordering.
